My photography and artwork is an escape from life's controls and constraints, allowing me the freedom to create unique images, even with my colorblindness. My work includes photography, abstract acrylic paint pours, digital image creations, and wood working. My work is the interpretation of my exploration of the world, and of life, influenced by my past, my present, my emotions, plus the world around me.
With my photography, I focus on capturing the world around me while I also try to live in that moment. My final images are what I see and feel in the world even though they may not be what I captured at the time.
Even though I do multiple genres of photography and photograph whatever captures my eye at the moment, my images are mostly centered around creative photography.
My abstract acrylic painting pours are an expression of life; even when we try to control the elements around us, we never know how life is going to change unexpectedly. With my paintings, I can control the colors I use and how I add them to the canvas, but the outcome always surprises. Most of the time a beautiful creation is made, but as in life, sometimes something not that great is created but that is still unique.
Every year I put out a 12"x24" calendar of my photography and artwork. These calendars are printed on a heavy stock quality paper and the images can framed. There is a special holiday listed on every day of the year, along with all the major holidays, plus astronomical events and the phases of the moon.
I am a Colorado Native who transplanted himself to Minnesota. My professional training is in Information Technology, but my passion is photography.
I was truly bitten by the photography bug in the mid-1980 when I purchase my first SLR camera, a Canon AE-1; it wasn't until I went back to college around 2009 to get an associates degree in Photography that I had any idea how powerful of a tool photography was or how to really use it. Every time I pick up my camera to take an image, whether it is my digital SLR or my camera phone, I try to make a photograph instead of just taking a picture. I am not always successful.
My passion is creative portraiture and landscape photography, but I also capture other images as seen in my galleries. I also love abstract art and I have dabbled in Acrylic Paint pouring, there is a certain freedom this process allows along with the idea that nobody sees the same thing in the same image.
To be totally honest, my true passion is learning and creating. I try to always learn new things and to create something from what I learn. So I hope you enjoy what you find and I would love to hear from you.
Have a great day.
